Samsung Galaxy A8 Rumors, Release Date Tipped in New Leak: Could Be Thinnest Samsung Smartphone Ever

Last year, Samsung reinvented itself with the Galaxy Alpha smartphone – its first ever handset that got a metal frame.

Based on previous reports, the Android-powered handset was supposed to be a rival to then upcoming 4.7-inch iPhone 6. But then, the Galaxy A7 sparked a new era in Samsung smartphones earlier this year, an era where metal-clad devices rule.

A recent report now claims that A7's successor is coming soon.

According to a report by Phone Arena, the Korean manufacturer is already preparing the Galaxy A8, which will supposedly follow the A7's footsteps in the higher midrange department.

However, based on the alleged specs revealed by SamMobile, it seems the Galaxy A8 does not want itself to be called a midranger.

In the report, the Android-powered device will allegedly come with a huge 5.7-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 2GB of RAM, a 64-bit compatible Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset, and 16GB of built-in memory.

Other specs include an Adreno 405 GPU for impressive graphics performance, a 3000mAh battery, and a microSD card slot.

The camera department reportedly boasts a 16MP primary camera and a 5MP front cam. While there are no indications just yet that this combination will be identical to that of current high-end Samsung phones (Galaxy S6, S6 Edge), that combo is still among the best in the midrange category.

One notable feature that was indicated is the 5.9mm frame of the Galaxy A8. If this rumor will be accurate, then the upcoming Android device will be Samsung's thinnest smartphone, according to the report.
