Samsung Galaxy J3 – Samsung's Next Budget-Friendly Smartphone Maybe Coming Soon

Stiff competition in the smartphone market has manufacturers thinking of ways to attract more buyers to their device. A proven way of achieving this is by providing consumers with more options particularly in terms of devices that have good technical specs and an affordable price tag at the same time. As for Samsung, it is reportedly coming out with a successor to the budget-friendly Samsung Galaxy J2, called the Galaxy J3. According to a report in Tech Times, the new device recently appeared on benchmark sites, indicating that the device may be released in the market very soon.

The device comes with the model number SM-J3109 and under the hood, it sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, paired with 1 GB of RAM. The phone reportedly appeared on two benchmark sites, GFXBench and Geekbench, as early as October 8.

According to the two sites, the upcoming device will be slightly bigger than its predecessor. It will reportedly have a 5-inch screen with HD resolution at 1,280 x 720 pixels. The J2 only had a 4.7-inch display and a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels.

Camera-wise, the Galaxy J3 will have an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, while its front-facing "selfie" camera will be a 5 megapixel one. Internal storage is pegged at 8 GB. If the J2 is used as a reference, the J3 will likely come with expandable memory support through a microSD card like its predecessor.

Because it is a mid-range device, it will only have Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-installed and not the newest Android OS.

The phone's expected selling price is not yet known but if the release price of the J2 is any indication, it may be within the same price range. The J2, when released earlier this year, was selling at $125.

According to the report, the fact that the device found its way in benchmark sites indicates its impending release, but Samsung has yet to announce when this will be.
