Samsung Galaxy Note 8: New Phablet to Launch in Q4 of 2017?
Samsung is expected to release three new flagship smartphones this year: the Galaxy S8, which is already available for pre-order; the Galaxy X, the company's first foldable smartphone; and the Galaxy Note 8 phablet, which is said to be released in the second half of 2017.
After a series of speculations, a leak out of China suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 could be released much later than usual to give way to the introduction of the rumored Galaxy X foldable smartphone in the third quarter of 2017.
According to the Chinese leaker, who claims to be a member of the Samsung Galaxy Club in China, the foldable Galaxy X will arrive before the new Samsung Note phablet, which is allegedly scheduled to arrive in the fourth quarter of this year.
Samsung mobile chief DJ Koh previously confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 will be "better, safer, and very innovative."
The Galaxy Note 8 is rumored to come with a giant 6.4-inch super active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) dual-edge display with 4K resolution, as well as a dual-camera system. Just like the Galaxy S8 smartphone, the upcoming phablet will also feature Samsung's in-house artificial intelligence (AI) assistant called Bixby and will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 chipset.
The upcoming phablet is also rumored to arrive with a 6 GB of random-access memory (RAM), an S Pen stylus, an iris scanner, a USB Type-C port and a 3.5-mm headphone jack. Again, similar to the Galaxy S8, the Note 8 will also have no physical home button. As for storage, the device could offer up to 256 GB of internal memory.
At the moment, Samsung is focused on the release of the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+, which were launched at the South Korean tech giant's Galaxy Unpacked 2017 event last Wednesday, March 29, in New York.
If the leak turns out to be true, then Samsung users and tech enthusiasts will get to have a good look at the Galaxy Note 8 once it is launched sometime in the fourth quarter of 2017.
