Samsung Galaxy S7 News: China Mobile Reveal March 2016 Release
China Mobile may have inadvertently tipped off when Samsung's next flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S7, will be launched in 2016. According to a report in Tech Times, a lot of rumors have already been circulating about when the device is arriving, all pointing to sometime within the first quarter of 2016. A Weibo post by a Chinese engineer revealed that the device will be launched in March.
The Weibo post, according to the report, was made by the chief engineer of China Telecom Guangzhou Research Institute, Cheng Guuifeng Gui and it showed several images of China Telecom's roadmap for the next months, coming into 2016. Since China Telecom carries other devices from other smartphone manufacturers, the roadmap contained supposed details about the devices that the mobile carrier will be bringing in the market. Among these devices is reportedly the Samsung Galaxy S7. Other Samsung devices mentioned include the Galaxy A5 and the Galaxy A7. The Huawei P9 was also mentioned.
One of the images in the Weibo post lists the Galaxy S7, indicating a launch timeframe of March 2016. Although the price of the device is not listed, it looks like it is going to be part of the high-end group of phones that the company will release. The price range of above CNY 3,000 is listed for the Galaxy S7, which is equivalent to about $463.
The roadmap does not reveal any of the spec details of the Galaxy S7. Based on rumors and reports, the new device will be sporting Qualcomm's latest chipset, the Snapdragon 820. Another rumor says that the Galaxy S7 will be exclusively sporting the chipset until April 2016. In terms of design, some rumors point to a body that is made of magnesium alloy. Among the new features of the device reportedly is a technology that is similar to 3D Touch.
The device is also rumored to have dual main cameras. TouchWix is also refined with the new device, providing a better user interface.
