Samsung Gear A Specs, Release Date: Next-Gen Smartwatch to Debut With Galaxy Note 5 in September
This year, Samsung will develop the fifth generation of its highly successful Android phablets that invented the term in the mobile market.
However, it looks like the Korean manufacturer will also announce a new version of its Gear smartwatch running on Tizen OS.
According to a report by Phone Arena, the Samsung Gear A is rumored to make its debut together with the Galaxy Note 5, probably during this year's IFA event in Berlin.
In a separate report by SamMobile, Samsung has been planning to launch a brand new smartwatch right after seeing the success enjoyed by Apple's own device. However, the report stated that the Korean company wants to wait until the dust has settled before releasing another smartwatch into the market.
Based on previous rumors, the Gear A will feature some interesting specs such as a rotating bezel ring that enables its user to switch through different apps, a crown-shaped power button, and Bluetooth capability.
Other rumored specs include 3G data, voice calling, and even wireless charging capabilities.
The report also mentioned that a manufacturer has been hinting the development of circular displays in a smartwatch, and it has led many to be believe that it would be Samsung.
Since launching the Galaxy Gear devices, the Korean tech giant has not yet developed any smartwatch that has a circular display.
Like most rumors, we suggest you take these details with a grain of salt.
