Samsung Gear Sport Release Date, Price & Specs News: Wearables Available for Pre-Order on Friday
South Korean tech giant Samsung has unveiled the latest details of their latest wearable gear, the Gear Sport smartwatch and Gear IconX 2018 smart earbuds.
Pre-orders for Gear Sport and Gear IconX 2018 smart earbuds should start on Friday, Oct. 13. Widespread availability across the country should start on Friday, Oct. 27.
"Samsung's new smartwatches and cord-free earbuds make wellness management simpler and easier," Alanna Cotton, Vice President Marketing, Samsung Electronics America said in a statement. "Whether you want to get fitness insights or enjoy your favorite music, Gear Sport and Gear IconX 2018 blend style with functionality to help you manage your health and get the most out of your day."
The Gear Sport comes with a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display. It sports a circular bezel for easier navigation. It has a 5 ATM water resistance and swim-tracking feature as well as a real-time heart rate monitor. Apart from fitness monitoring, this wearable offers a Spotify offline mode which allows users to play track wherever they need to.
The smartwatches come with a number of custom bands that go along with its traditional watch design. The Gear Sport should be available in Blue and Black for $299.99.
The Gear IconX 2018 features a cord-free design, appropriate for fitness as well as leisure activities. It has 4 GB of internal storage. Songs can be accessed offline either by transferring the files from a Samsung phone or PCs or online by streaming music through services using Bluetooth connectivity.
Users should be able to control their music or smartphone through Bixby, with a tap or hold of the earbuds when they are linked to a Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, or Galaxy Note8.
Gear IconX comes in Black, Gray, and Pink. The wireless earbuds will cost $199.99.
Gear Sport should be available for preorders on Samsung's official website and on Best Buy. On Oct. 27, more retailers and carriers should be able to offer the smartwatch.
