Samsung S7, S7 Edge Release Date: Samsung Could Be Set To Unveil Next Flagships In February 2016
After Samsung unveiled its newest processor, the Exynos 8890, another piece of news has started circulating about when the Korean manufacturer will likely unveil its next line of flagship smartphones. According to a report in Tech Times, a February 2016 launching of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge may be in the works.
If reports are true, Samsung will make the announcement one day before the start of the yearly Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The MWC 2016 officially starts on February 22. This follows the pattern of unveiling that Samsung did last year, when it unveiled the S6 and the S6 Edge also at the MWC.
According to the report, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge brought about changes in the way Samsung built its flagships. It signaled the start of the use of more premium materials such as metal and glass and ditching the old plastic design that previous Samsung phones used. When it comes to the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge, Samsung is expected to continue the use of premium materials and with the Exynos 8890, the premium look will also come with high-end specs.

The report's source also mentioned that aside from the S7 and the S7 Edge, there may also be a new foldable smartphone in the works, which will be announced during the Unpacked 2016 event.
In terms of rumored specs, the S7 and the S7 Edge will reportedly sport 5.2 inch and 5.8 inch displays respectively, something that is so close to the sizes of Apple's iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Under the hood, the new flagships may either come with Samsung's own Exynos 8890 processor or Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820, depending in which market the phone is being sold.
Other details include the phones being equipped with 3D Touch technology, which is similar to what Apple has on its latest iPhones. USB Type C ports may already be the standard ports on the phones, which will allow for faster charging.
