Samsung S7 Specs, Release Date Rumors: May Come In Early 2016 With Faster Processor And Pressure-Sensitive Screen

After the release of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, the Internet is already abuzz with rumors about what Samsung's next flagship will look like and what new features it will have. According to a TechRadar report, Samsung may be looking at a January or February 2016 unveiling of the Galaxy S7. Speculations have it that the next flagship will have better processing power and the latest pressure-sensitive screen technology, among others.

With Samsung's next generation 14nm production method in place, the Galaxy S7 is expected to have on board the fastest processors so far manufactured – the new Exynos 8890 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. These new chips, according to another report in Phone Arena, have a lower power requirement, even with faster processing power.

According to the same Phone Arena report, Samsung is reportedly working with Synaptics as a partner in Synaptics' newest touch technology called ClearForce. This may mean that the next Samsung flagships will be equipped with this new technology, which is likened to Apple's 3D Touch technology.

In terms of the phone's design, it is expected not to deviate so much from the design of the Galaxy S6, given that that design is working for Samsung. It is said that the S7 is rumored to have a magnesium alloy frame paired with glass covers.

Contradicting reports are coming out about the phone's display and camera features. One report is claiming that it will have a 5.2-inch flat display while another says it will have a 5.7-inch display, with a single curved edge. As for the camera, two contradicting rumors have come out. One is claiming that the S7 will have a 20-megapixel main shooter, while another is saying that it may have a 12-megapixel one.

It will likely come pre-installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Still another rumor claims that the device will have "serious audio skills" as it may be equipped with ESS Technology's SABRE 9018AQ2M chip that features a 32-bit mobile audio DAC and 129 dB signal to noise ratio.
