Scared Girl Gives Herself Pep Talk to Take First Ski Jump (VIDEO)
The first-ever women's ski jump in the Olympics occurred Tuesday with Carina Vogt of Germany taking gold. Who knows, 10-year-old Zia in this viral video could make the podium some day, and for the motivation to compete, she can thank…herself.
In this 2012 video, the fourth grader from Park City, Utah stands at the top of a K40 ski jump, but she's having second thoughts. The fear in her voice is palpable as she stares down the ramp. "Here...goes...something."
She whimpers. But while lesser folk would come up with some reason to back away, she pushes forward – and down in a hurry.
Hear Zia's self-pep talk and witness her moment of triumph.
