Selena Gomez, The Weeknd Split After 10-Month Relationship
Selena Gomez and The Weeknd have officially called it quits.
Multiple sources confirmed that the pair have split after 10 months of dating. An insider told PEOPLE that their busy schedules greatly contributed to their breakup.
"She and Abel have been going back and forth for a few months about their relationship," a source revealed. "It's been hard with him being on tour and her shooting in New York. That wasn't easy on them."
TMZ's sources reveal The Weeknd — whose real name is Abel Tesfaye — enjoyed the single life before meeting Gomez. He allegedly felt tied down in their relationship that began to fizzle out last summer. The media outlet's insiders also claimed that The Weekend called Gomez several weeks ago to end the relationship.
Despite their split, the actress and the Canadian singer remain friendly and have even talked multiple times since their breakup. Although many believe Gomez's ex Justin Bieber was a factor in the split, insiders confirmed that his reignited relationship with the former Disney star did not begin until she and The Weekend parted ways.
Rumors about Bieber having a role in Gomez and The Weeknd's split started when he was spotted having breakfast with his ex-girlfriend. They were also recently photographed stopping by at a church. Reports note the "Love Yourself" crooner reached out to Gomez after learning about her kidney transplant surgery and struggle with Lupus.
While many fans are excited about the possibility of a "Jelena" reunion, Gomez's family are concerned with the former couple's rekindled friendship.
"Justin is aware Selena's family is not thrilled they are hanging out. They think he caused Selena a lot of grief," Bieber's friend shared. "Justin hopes he can prove to them that he has changed."
