'Shameless' Season 8 Spoilers: Frank to Become St. Francis
While William H. Macy has already teased in an earlier interview that his Frank Gallagher character will change for the better in the upcoming season 8 of "Shameless," the recently released trailer for the series suggests that the Gallagher patriarch will show interest in Buddhism and will even have the guts to call himself a saint.
After the death of the Gallagher matriarch, Monica (Chloe Webb) in the previous season of "Shameless," some couldn't help but suspect that Frank would be consumed by his vices even more. While Macy has said in an earlier interview with Entertainment Weekly that his character will be more sober and has changed for the better in the upcoming season 8 of "Shameless," the recently released trailer suggests that Macy will work on improving his spirituality, too.
As seen on the trailer, Frank takes part in a Buddhist meditation. As he goes home, he even shares with his children what he has learned from his experience. Reportedly, Frank will do everything he can just to let his children realized that he has changed for the better.
"Acceptance, resurrection, enlightenment," he explains to his children as to what has happened to him.
However, it seems that Frank's attempt to change will go a little too far as he also says in the trailer that he wants to be named after a saint. Hence, he takes it upon himself to assume the name "St. Francis."
Meanwhile, the season 7 finale of "Shameless" also featured Fiona Gallagher (Emily Rossum) purchasing a building as she ventures into the real-estate business. However, as also seen in the trailer, the eldest Gallagher daughter will have a hard time dealing with the tenants of her building especially when gathering rental payments.
How sincere is Frank in changing? What motive does he have in wanting his children to believe that he has changed for the better?
Find out when "Shameless" season 8 begins airing on Showtime this Nov. 5.
