Sharp Aquos Crystal 2 Specs, Release Date: New Bezel-Less Smartphone Unveiled, Still Boasts Midrange Specs

A lot of people were surprised to see display maker Sharp get into the smartphone business once more when it launched the Aquos Crystal. However, it seems the company is eager to launch its successor.

According to a report by GSM Arena, Sharp has just unveiled the successor to its first bezel-less device, and it would available in the coming months, probably mid-July.

In the report, the Sharp Aquos Crystal 2 boasts a bigger 5.2-display with the same HD (1280 x 720) resolution, 8MP camera and 2.1MP front shooter as its predecessor.

Another similarity is the 2,030mAh battery, which may or may not be enough to power the device for an entire day.

However, the newer version does have better specs compared to the original. This version has more RAM (2GB), and internal memory (16GB) compared to the Aquos Crystal.

Completing the specs sheet include LTE connectivity, HD Voice, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi b/g/n, NFC, a mobile wallet system, and 1-seg mobile TV.

However, similar to its predecessor, the main highlight of the smartphone is its bezel-less display, particularly the top and sides of the front. As a result, the selfie shooter was placed below the screen.

In the report, the device will debut on Softbank in July, though there are no details yet about pricing.
