Sherri Shepherd Promised to 'Love and Co-Parent' Surrogate Baby, Claims Ex As Pretrial Hearing Nears
Sherri Shepherd and Lamar Sally are scheduled for a pretrial hearing relating to their surrogate baby dispute in two weeks, and in a new interview he shared his side of the story.
The estranged couple, who separated in May, have a pretrial hearing set for Oct. 2 in Pennsylvania, where their surrogate baby was born last month, but there is still no resolution in sight.
Sally, 43, claims the former "The View" co-host, 47, agreed to mother a baby conceived using his sperm and a donor's egg after their 2011 wedding. He also says she simply changed her mind about the baby six months into the pregnancy and filed for divorce.

"This is six months into the pregnancy, and I'm just like, 'Really?' She said, 'We'll co-parent. We'll work it out,'" Sally told People.com. "I never thought in a million years she would turn her back on L.J [the surrogate baby]."
Shepherd has reportedly never met the baby and insiders claim she wants nothing to do with him because she believes Sally defrauded her into signing the surrogate agreement.
"[Sherri] said, 'I will love the baby like it's mine,'" he said.
Sally, a Los Angeles based script writer, maintains they had a legitimate agreement in place and he reportedly wants child support and her name to be on the birth certificate.
"I think it's the worst thing in the world for L.J. to look at his birth certificate at 16 and see it says, 'Mother unknown,'" he explained.
Shepherd recently offered Sally a one-time $100,000 payment and $3,000 in monthly child support, even though she changed her mind about the baby.
Under the terms of the estranged couple's "ironclad prenup," Sally waived all rights to collect spousal support from Shepherd and her $100,000 offer is said to be more than he is entitled to under the agreement.
"Lamar rejected the offer, and countered that he wanted $10,000 in child support, which Sherri thinks is ridiculous and absolutely won't pay. At this point, the divorce isn't likely to settle without a trial, which Sherri is more than willing to have," a source told RadarOnline.com.
Shepherd, who has a 9-year-old son from her first marriage, has not publicly addressed her ongoing divorce. She declined to comment on the surrogate dispute.
