'Sleepy Hollow' Season 2 Spoilers: New Characters, Monsters Released as Abbie and Crane Struggle to Survive

"Sleepy Hollow" residents should be prepared for anything to happen, and with new demons and monsters prepared to attack at any moment, it's going to be an exciting second season. Creators have warned that there are plenty of "bombs" to be dropped on the residents and main characters.

"War can tear a town apart but also a family," co-creator Roberto Orci told critics at the Television Critics Association fall preview. "Can Icahabod and Katrina redeem their son or not?"

During the season finale, it was revealed that their son, Jeremy, was actually one of the Apocalyptic Four Horseman known as War. He buried his father, Ichabod, in a coffin and apparently had his mother killed. Meanwhile, Abbie was stuck in Purgatory after agreeing to take Katrina's place to destroy War and prevent the Apocalypse.

"Picking up this season, there will be some real trust issues," between Abbie and Ichabod, executive producer Mark Goffman revealed. "We saw that Crane had betrayed Abbie's trust in redrawing the map to Purgatory."

However, Ichabod is still trapped in the coffin buried six feet under, and creators said that it's "been harder than we thought to get him out. We spent so much time to get him in the ground. What we didn't want to do is just get him right out and make it feel easy."

In other news, John Noble (Jeremy) and Lyndie Greenwood (Jenny Mills, Abbie's sister) have been upgraded to season regulars. Of course, that gives away one cliff-hanger, whether Abbie's sister survived the car accident in the season finale. However, given the show's nature of the supernatural, will she be in human or spiritual form? And will she provide much-needed help to her sister?

"We have a new sheriff in town, Lena Reyes, and that's going to pose a lot of cool conflict with Crane and Abbie as they try to work their way in the precinct," Goffman said. "She has a history in Sleepy Hollow but has been with the border patrol."

"Sleepy Hollow" returns to Fox on Monday, Sept. 22.
