According to Fox Entertainment President David Madden, it was the writers' pitch that made them decide to continue with the fourth season of "Sleepy Hollow". They proposed new characters that will undertake Ichabod Crane's new challenges and adventures.
Madden mentioned that the first seven scripts have engaging scenes that will open new good stories to tell. He also said that although it will be the same series name with Ichabod Crane as its main character, the storyline will be quite different from the previous seasons.
The new witness: Diana
It was reported that Janina Gavankar from "True Blood" will be joining "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4. She will be playing the role of Ichabod's new witness, Diana.
Diana is a Special Agent for Homeland Security. She is a former military officer and, at the same time, a single mom of a young girl. Because of her military background, she springs right into action and sees to it that her task is done at all times. This is in total contrast to Crane's systematic and well-researched method of carrying out a mission. Diana's strong character and dry sense of humor will surely add flavor to "Sleepy Hollow's" story.
Because of this new ingredient, it seems that Ichabod and Diana will find a connection. Who knows, this might even give the series a shot at making it to its fifth season?
Other new characters
Aside from Gavankar, Jerry MacKinnon will be part of the series and portray Jake Wells. Rachel Melvin will also set foot on Sleepy Hollow to portray Alex Norwood in the upcoming season.
Jake Wells has always been interested in unexplained theories, even when no one gives enough attention to his works. He is an analyst working in an obsolete federal archive cataloguing which records supernatural activity. Crane's support for jake's undistinguished works will change his life.
Alex Norwood works with Wells in the supernatural archives. However, her work is focused on the engineering wonders behind the theories they explore. If Wells focuses on news and paper trails, Norwood handles the evidence and machines. Their work will find balance in connecting the proverbial dots with the help of Crane.
The makers of "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 have not issued an official date of its release yet. However, they assure fans that it will premiere by midseason of 2017.
