Snapchat Update: 3D Animated Bitmoji Avatars And New Our Story Feature For UK Students

For a while, Bitmoji was just there for Snapchat as many users thought that creating an emoji of themselves seemed juvenile and kind of cheesy. Then the instant messaging app rolled out a new update where users could make their own 3D Bitmoji and animate them in their snaps.

At first glance, a 3D animated Bitmoji seems to be another gimmick to make money without much value for users. That is until everyone started posting hilarious videos of their animated emojis on social media. Even comedian Mike Scott Khoury posted on his Twitter.

Using augmented reality technology, Bitmoji Avatars project a 3D cartoon of the user into the real world. They can do a number of actions such as ride a skateboard, drink a cup of coffee, do yoga, or sit on a movie chair, among others.

Users can move the Bitmoji animation around on the screen, making it bigger or smaller while at the same interact with it by walking around and moving their camera's position. Users can then either send them to a friend or post it to their story.

Aside from the new 3D animated Bitmoji, the new Snapchat update also brings with it innovative new features including the addition of Links and Voice Filters by tapping the speaker icon to access voice-only filters. Users can also now add different backgrounds to their photos to make them more attractive.

The company is also launching a UK University version of Our Story for students throughout the UK so can see what is going on in campuses across the country. The feature will be rolled out to over 100 universities throughout the UK and students from these universities can only be the only ones able to watch the 'University Our Story' and submit snaps to it.

Our Story feature has been around since 2014
