Song Joong-Ki, Song Hye-Kyo Will Not be in 'Descendants of the Sun 2

"Descendants of the Sun" stars Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are not expected to reprise their roles for the upcoming sequel to the hit military drama.

Joong Ki and co-star Hye Kyo, now his wife-to-be, appeared on "Descendants of the Sun" as Captain Yoo Shi Jin and Doctor Kang Mo Yeon, respectively. With the success of the series, there has been a clamor to produce a sequel.

Previous rumors suggested that the pair will sign onto the succeeding installment, given that they have yet to commit to any upcoming TV shows. More recent rumors, however, claim that the couple will stay away from the limelight for a while to focus on family.

In a previous report by All Kpop, the publication reiterated what Joong Ki once said about appearing in TV shows or films, wherein he expressed a desire to lay low and rest a bit.

"I'll spend the free personal time as fully as possible," the actor stated. "I've always searched for my next project after finishing one. That's why this year I want to rest a bit and spend time as the 30-year-old Song Joong Ki."

The former co-stars should tie the knot later this month, on Oct. 31. They shocked fans from all over the world with their engagement news, which was released through both of their talent agencies in July, especially since they kept on insisting that they were not dating.

The Song-Song couple is expected to wed at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul City, South Korea, a popular venue for celebrity weddings.

As previously reported, the couple were spotted flying to Los Angeles and then to San Francisco for what was believed to be a wedding photo shoot.

The husband-and-wife-to-be reportedly hired Hong Jang Hyun, a professional photographer, who has provided services to celebrity weddings before, including Lee Hyori and Lee Sang-Soon.
