Sowell Murders: Cleveland Killer Suspect, Michael Madison, Obsessed With Anthony Sowell (VIDEO)
The Sowell murders of 2009 and 2010 have reportedly "fascinated" Michael Madison, the man who has been charged with the murders of at least three women in Cleveland, Ohio.
Anthony Sowell was found guilty of killing 11 women in 2011, with his victims bodies found decomposed and mostly naked. Sowell was given the death penalty for the murders.
Michael Madison, 35, who has been arrested in connection with three murders, is a registered sex offender, and investigators are currently still looking into whether there may have been more than three victims.
So far authorities have conducted a widespread search for victims, which has seen more than 40 abandoned premises and areas searched.
Madison reportedly leased the garage where the bodies of the three dead women were discovered.
The mayor of East Cleveland, Gary Norton, has told CNN: "We are dealing with a sick individual, and we have reason to believe that there might be more victims."
Norton also confirmed that authorities had already found extensive evidence in the case, from interviews with Madison and local residents, that the suspect was obsessed with the "Cleveland Strangler" – Anthony Sowell.
Norton said: "Unfortunately, this is a sick individual who appears to have been influenced by another sick individual. If he had been out for one more hour, there's no telling what would have happened."
He added, "Some things that led us to believe that in some way, shape, or form, Sowell might be an influence."
Investigators are continuing their search of the local areas for more victims.
