Star Jones Returns to 'The View' This February
Star Jones will return to "The View," her old show, on Feb. 22, 5-and-a-half years after she was let go.
Star Jones- who was one of the five original hosts of the popular daytime talk show- will return to "The View" not as a host, but as a guest: she's there to promote an awareness campaign for heart disease in women.
The campaign, called "Go Red for Women," asks women to wear red Feb. 3 to support heart patients. The cause is especially relevant to Jones and the show's creator, Barbara Walters, because they both had open-heart surgery in 2010 for to repair their heart valves.
Despite surviving such a life-threatening condition within only two months of each other, Jones and Walters have not always gotten along.
After the controversy that led to Jones' firing- although she originally claimed on the air she chose to leave "after much prayer and counsel"- the bad blood between the two only got worse.
Walters wrote a 2008 book, titled "Audition: A Memoir," wherein she exposed Jones' gastric bypass surgery, and spoke about Jones' forcing her co-hosts not to speak about it.
Jones, who had lost 160 pounds in three years, previously said she dieted and exercised to lose the weight, although critics were skeptical.
The "Celebrity Apprentice" star fired back by writing a book of her own, called "Satan's Sisters." The novel followed the female cast of a daytime talk show.
That was a long time ago, however. Since then, Jones has publicly stated on her book tour that she would gladly come back to "The View," although no invitation had been extended.
Now that the lawyer has teamed up with the American Heart Association to promote women's health, she will come back for just one appearance on the view, which is expected to be amicable.
Since her contract was not renewed for the 10th season of "The View" in 2006, Jones has hosted her own show on TruTV, acted, and guest hosted for numerous other shows and events.
