'State of Decay 2' Release at E3 2017? Three Maps Will Be Available at Launch
Undead Labs' upcoming survival game, "State of Decay 2," will be getting three maps upon its release - an event that is likely to happen later this year.
This was confirmed by the game studio itself through a blog post written by Undead Labs Community Director Sanya Weathers.
In the blog post, Weathers explained that each map will be "roughly the size of the original," and that it will feature different kinds of environments with a variety of landmarks and layouts which lend themselves to a number of strategies and missions.
"It really feels like you're moving from one small town to another, and creates a tremendous sense of immersion. And perhaps counter-intuitively, it makes the world feel even bigger," Weathers said.
As to what players can bring along when they move to a new map, Weathers said that they intend to take all the people, plus everything in the game's "supply lockers and rucks."
"We'll have all the vehicles parked in our home site parking spaces, along with whatever's stored in the trunks," she adds.
However, this is not final yet, as there might still be changes after the studio is done with their testing.
Weathers also hinted that the world of "State of Decay 2" might be expanded along the way, possibly by adding more maps via downloadable content expansions.
"The multiple map set up makes it easy to expand the world down the line, if you know what I mean," the community director said.
"State of Decay 2" does not have an exact release date as of the moment, but one is expected to be announced during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo event scheduled for June.
Like its first installment, which was released in 2013, "State of Decay 2" is expected to be a third-person shooting game in an open-world environment. The title also has cooperative gameplay support for up to three players.
Once it is released, the game will be available on Windows and Xbox One as a play-anywhere-title.
