'Strangers: Prey at Night' Release Date, News: New Poster Released

Aviron Pictures has dropped the new poster for "Strangers: Prey at Night" ahead of the holidays. The film is set to hit theaters in the first quarter of next year and the studio is already making the most of the holidays to promote the film.

The three psychopaths from the original film are at the forefront in the new poster, standing against a black backdrop. The one at the center is shown holding an ax while the other two show their hands clasped as if praying. While the poster seems plain and does not reveal anything about the plot of the upcoming film, it does tease that the sequel is ready to give viewers more creeps.

A few days before the unveiling of the new poster for the film, Aviron Pictures launched the #25DaysofPreyer on Instagram to offer fans some spooky holiday fun. This Instagram event involves daily advent calendar postings and is meant to build the hype around the upcoming horror film.

The description for the film reveals that "Strangers: Prey at Night" will follow a family whose road trip turns into a disaster when they find themselves in a secluded mobile home park. Staying in the deserted home park for the night with some relatives, the family suddenly encounters three masked psychopaths. The psychopaths will visit and horrify the family, testing their limits as they struggle to survive the night.

Directed by Johannes Roberts and inspired by the 2008 hit "The Strangers," the film was produced with only $9 million budget and is expected to rake in big at the global box office. The original film earned $52.5 million domestically and $82.3 million around the world.

The original film was directed by Bryan Bertino, and it featured in its cast Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman, who play a loving couple who found themselves in a far suburban home and got terrorized by three masked strangers. Other cast members of the original movie included Glenn Howerton, Gemma Ward, Kip Weeks, Laura Margolis, Alex Fisher, Peter Clayton-Luce and Jordan Del Spina. It was originally written by Bertino and was eventually rewritten by Ben Ketai with Johannes Roberts.

Best known for his works "Chosen," "Startup," "The Forest," "30 Days of Night: Dark Days" and "Hush," Ketai also wrote the early screenplay for the sequel.

"Strangers: Prey at Night" will hit theaters on March 9, 2018.
