Stuntmen Rescue Suicidal Woman Before Comic-Con: Drunk Woman Threatens 14 Floor Plunge (VIDEO)
Stuntmen preparing for an event at the Comic-Con on Thursday were able to rescue a young woman who was threatening to plunge to her death.
A young woman, upset over a recent break-up, was discovered at the edge of a downtown building in San Diego on Thursday. Screams from people in the area caught the attention of a group of stunt men who were working nearby, preparing scaffolding for a premiere "Bad A-Two" event the Comic-Con.
Crew leader Gregg Sergeant, of Stunt 911, and his team responded to the screams and rushed over to help the woman. Cell phone video captured of the event show the woman stand on the outside railing of a balcony on the 14th floor. Sergeant and his crew climbed a fence and approached a security guard at the building to use the elevator, only to find the woman's door locked. The woman was facing away from the door when the men attempted entry.
[We] burst into the room and she was on the patio. She'd even closed the door so we couldn't get to her," Sergeant told ABC. "Just as we got to her, she was just leaning out."
Sergeant explained that he grabbed the woman by wrapping his arm around her body. His men backed him up from the sides and, as a team, three of them pulled the woman inside and laid her on the floor.
"I hooked my arms underneath her leg and we pulled her back in and carried her into the room and laid her on the couch, and she was very upset," said Scott Schecter.
While the men did not regard themselves as heroes, they were grateful that they were able to make good timing before it was too late.
"I was just so thankful we got there when we got there. I think if we'd been there two seconds later, she would've been gone," Sergeant said.
