'Suicide Squad' News, Spoilers: Common Improvised Some Scenes with Jared Leto, Says 'Suicide' Squad' Is a 'Special' Kind of Film
Fans who have seen the trailers for the upcoming "Suicide Squad" already know that the superhero team-up spectacle will be unlike most comic books-based superhero films moviegoers have been treated to in recent years. Nevertheless, actor/recording artist Common now says that the film is "special" and that it occurs in a world he has never seen before.
With DC's recently released "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" receiving mixed responses from critics and fans, a lot is riding on the commercial and critical success of "Suicide Squad," the next film in the DC Extended Universe line-up. Common recently told Complex that in the film, he plays Monster T, a tattoo-covered character who is in cahoots with the Joker (Jared Leto).
The actor recently spoke to Collider about what it was like working with Leto and why he agreed to be a part of "Suicide Squad."

According to Common, he believes in Leto's method approach to acting and loved how the actor stayed in character throughout filming, even when he wasn't in front of the camera.
"The scene we have, we definitely were totally improving a lot of stuff, with some of it," Common said, adding that he doesn't know which parts of their improv the filmmakers will keep.
"When you're in that space, where another actor is that person, you can just live and let it be," he explained. "I was really grateful. The was one of my most fun and invigorating experiences, as an actor, with the scene I had with Jared Leto, or The Joker."
The actor also spoke about why he chose to appear in "Suicide Squad," saying that he was confident that David Ayer would create something "special" and claiming that the film is unlike any other comic book movie fans have seen.
"I feel like, with so many comic book movies being made, I wanted to be a part of one of the ones that is special," he told Collider.
"Suicide Squad" is set to be released August 5.
