'Suicide Squad' News, Spoilers: Will Smith Teases 'Very Cool' Ending; Jared Leto Dishes About Strange Gifts He Sent Co-Stars
Though he was careful not to reveal any telling details about the upcoming superhero film, Will Smith, who stars in this year's "Suicide Squad," said that the film's ending is "unique" and "very cool."
Speaking to ComicBook.com from the red carpet at the Warner Brother's Big Picture presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday, April 12, the actor said, "The ending of the movie is - spoiler free - the ending of the movie is a really unique way to have everybody collide."
"I'd never been in a scene like this with as many different elements as take place in the final sequence. It's very cool," he added.
Smith also spoke about taking on the role of assassin Floyd Lawton, also known as Deadshot, in the film. "It was really great to play this particular character with this particular group of people with this director," he said. "It was fun to treat Deadshot like a real person."
Meanwhile, Jared Leto, who plays the Joker in the film, recently spoke about the various strange items he gifted his "Suicide Squad" co-stars before and during production. The actor/singer, who is a method actor, reportedly stayed in character throughout filming, even when he wasn't in front of the camera. He also reportedly sent weird gifts to his fellow actors, including a live rat to Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), "sticky Playboy magazines" to Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), bullets to Smith, and a dead pig to the entire cast.
According to the actor, he did all these to break down walls between him and his co-actors and to create spontaneity and an element of surprise. "The Joker is somebody who doesn't really respect things like personal space or boundaries," he told E!
"Suicide Squad" hits theaters August 5.
