'Supegirl' Season 3 Spoilers: Premiere Episode to Introduce a New Character Interested in Kara

While the upcoming season 3 of "Supergirl" premiere episode will feature Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) still coping with the loss of Mon-El (Chris Wood), her grieving process will be interrupted by a new character who will immediately show interest in her.

"Supergirl" season 3 is not arriving earlier than two weeks from now, but the synopsis for its premiere episode has already hinted that the Girl of Steel will be meeting a new character in its first episode. While it's already known that the upcoming season of the DC superhero series will usher in Odette Annable's Reign character, the series' big bad in season 3, it is said, though, that the mysterious character that will be featured in the premiere episode will not be Supergirl's main villain yet.

"Kara deals with the loss of Mon-El by focusing all her energy on being Supergirl and the mysterious new threat against National City.... A citizen of National City has a mysterious connection to Kara, and Lena (Katie McGrath) makes a bold move," goes a portion of the synopsis for "Supergirl" season 3 episode 1.

CBR opines that the mysterious character being teased may be Bloodsport as the synopsis claims that it will be a citizen of National City. After all, the series has already revealed that the said DC villain will make his appearance in the upcoming season of the series.

According to reports two months ago, the casting was underway for the said character, who is described as a mercenary who breaks into his former base and steals equipment necessary to hide an underwater nuclear device.

However, there is a possibility for the mysterious character to be Reign after all as executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed to TV Insider that Reign has been transported to National City as an infant, similar to the manner how Superman was sent to earth. Although "Supergirl" will feature Reign as a single mother already, she will have no idea that she is a Kryptonian bioengineered weapon of mass destruction all along.

"But she has no idea! She has been living in National City as (a now grown-up) person named Samantha Arias. One thing we've never done on 'Arrow' or 'The Flash' is watching the villain become the villain. Sam is just Sam," Kreisberg said.

Will the premiere episode of "Supergirl" season 3 introduce Reign right away? Is she the mysterious character being teased in the synopsis or Bloodsport?

Find out when "Supergirl" season 3 premieres on The CW this Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. CT.
