'Supergirl' Season 1 News, Spoilers: Supergirl Visits Superman's Fortress in Upcoming Episode

Kara Zor-El/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) will enter Superman's headquarters in an upcoming episode of CBS' action-adventure series "Supergirl."

In the Feb. 29 episode, titled "Solitude," Kara will head to Superman's Fortress of Solitude to find out how she can defeat Indigo (Laura Vandervoort).

According to Benoist, who described Superman's Arctic headquarters as "magical," "It's fun how we flirt with the idea of Superman being part of this world — how it is Kara's story, but they are still family."

Although the show has previously — though rarely — included the Man of Steel in its storyline, "This was the pinnacle of that," Benoist told Entertainment Weekly (EW). "When we walked in and did that scene, it felt pretty epic."

According to "Supergirl" executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, putting Kara in the Fortress is something that he has wanted to do since the show began. Kreisberg also revealed that the Fortress of Solitude in "Supergirl" is "an amalgamation of every Fortress" that Superman fans have ever seen. There are parts of the new Fortress of Solitude that were taken from the comics and from Richard Donner's version, and even some that are brand-new.

"It was really exciting to see those small touches," executive producer Ali Adler told EW. "I brought [The Big Bang Theory's] Bill Prady to the set, and he was just blown away by this moment where Supergirl is walking through the Fortress."

Meanwhile, Just Jared reports that Benoist and Grant Gustin (The Flash) have just wrapped up filming for the upcoming "Supergirl"/"The Flash" crossover, which airs on March 28. Gustin reportedly flew to the west coast from Vancouver to finish shooting the crossover episode on Monday, Feb. 22.

"Supergirl" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.

"The Flash" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
