'Superstore' Season 3 Spoilers: Exec Teases 'Morbid' Halloween Episode
"Superstore" executive producer Justin Spitzer teased an upcoming Halloween episode which will depart from the usual light and humorous tone of the show.
"The Halloween episode is crazy dark," said Spitzer in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "It's a very morbid episode. It really hits the blacker elements of Halloween."
The exec, however, did not spill any details about the special nor did he reveal what is in store for Amy (America Ferrera), Jonah (Ben Feldman), and the rest of the cast. He did reveal the characters' Hollywood costumes.
Spitzer admitted that Amy will be dressed as Selena. Dina (Lauren Ash), who looked great as a sexy cop for Halloween last year, will be wearing the same outfit again for this year's episode.
Ferrera revealed dressing up as Selena was her choice. The actress admitted that Spitzer allowed her to choose her character's costume for Halloween since it is not directly involved with the storyline.
"So I think most of us get to choose what we want to be unless it has something to do with the storyline," Ferrera said.
Prior to the Halloween special, fans have to go through a stark episode, which should reveal which characters survived last season's tornado. The title of episode 3 of "Superstore" season 3, "Sal is Dead," suggests that the Cloud 9 employee will be killed off in the next installment of the show.
Previous rumors, however, suggested that Brett (Jon Miyahara) will not be one of the survivors of last season's surprising ending. To recap, the character was standing outside when the tornado hit.
To note, details of episode 3 are scarce. It is unclear if the title suggests that Sal (Sean Whalen) will perish because of the tornado or from other causes.
"Superstore" Season 3 premieres on NBC on Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. EDT.
