T-Mobile to Launch $25 CellSpot to Act as Mini Cell Tower in Customers' Homes

T-Mobile is set to launch a CellSpot that will act as a mini cell tower in customers' homes and provide reliable LTE signals everywhere.

The 4G LTE CellSpot, which will be 8.5 inches in width and height, will cover an area of 3,000 square feet. One of the best things about T-Mobile's upcoming mini cell site is that it will only cost $25, according to Tech Times.

To use T-Mobile's mini cell tower, users will have to get LTE-capable devices, and connect the 4G LTE CellSpot to an Internet router. T-Mobile's Uncarrier 7.0 program, which has the WiFi CellSpot router, provides a similar service. The Uncarrier 10, on the other hand, comes with the 4G LTE CellSpot that does not require WiFi to get LTE coverage, the report details.

"Where the T-Mobile Wi-Fi CellSpot's like a T-Mobile tower, this new 4G LTE CellSpot is a T-Mobile mini-tower-and it's a huge feat of engineering," the Times quotes T-Mobile CEO John Legere's official statement on the mini cell site.

Legere also presented T-Mobile's point of contrast from its competitors. He said other carriers will do anything to "bleed" customers dry, while T-Mobile aims to use the best technology they have to give clients the best service that they can, the report relays.

The 4G LTE variant will include VoLTE, video calling, HD voice up to 16 simultaneous calls, and other features. As an added advantage, T-Mobile customers no longer need to log in with a password but can automatically establish a connection.

Legere says the 4G LTE CellSpot is T-Mobile's solution to the issue of dead spots. Verizon Wireless, AT&T, and other big rivals have been ahead of T-Mobile in terms of nationwide service coverage. So even though the mini cell spot entails steep capital, the U.S. carrier has gone ahead with the project, Hot Hardware reports.

Simple Choice postpaid users can avail of the mini cell site for free, and it comes with a refundable deposit of $25. Only one unit is allowed for every home or business establishment.

T-Mobile's 4G LTE CellSpot will be available starting Nov. 4.
