Taylor Swift and Kanye West Reconcile at Grammys 2015, But Kanye Blasts Beck for Winning Album of the Year
Six years after the MTV Video Music Awards incident wherein Kanye West infamously grabbed the mic from Taylor Swift, the two were reunited at the Grammys and it seems like they have finally buried the hatchet after all these years of tension between them.
During a break at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards on February 8, West broke the ice and approached the "Shake it Off" singer.
"Kanye made the first move approaching Taylor with open arms," an insider tells Hollywood Life. "He was so sweet and charming when they spoke. He complimented her on her success and praised her latest album. He told her she deserved every bit of it and was sorry for the incident in 2009."
West and Swift posed for a picture which shows the two of them smiling. More pictures of their interaction shows the two having a pleasant conversation while West's wife, Kim Kardashian West, looks on fondly and appears to be glad of the reconciliation.
Aside from West, Swift also ended a feud with Diplo as she posed with him at a Grammy after party.
West made his triumphant comeback to the Grammys. He also performed two new singles in a stripped-down performance which impressed his fans. The rapper also wasn't above making fun of his VMA stunt. When Beck won Album of the Year, beating out Beyonce for the honors, West went onstage and pretended to steal the mic from him, then turned around and went back to his seat.
Though the rapper said nothing onstage, he did talk to Khloe Kardashian, who was reporting for E!, and launched a scathing attack on Beck and the Grammy organizers.
"We ain't gonna play with them no more," West said. "Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyonce."
"At this point—we're tired of it because what happens is, you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental music. You are disrespectful to inspiration," he continued.
Meanwhile, Beck told reporters that he agreed with West and also thought that Beyonce should have won.
"Absolutely, I thought she was going to win," said Beck to People.
Of West's rant about him, Beck said, "You can't please everybody. I still love him and think he's a genius. I aspire to what he does."
