'Teen Mom 2' Star Kailyn Lowry Defends Breastfeeding Photos on Instagram
"Teen Mom 2" star Kailyn Lowry has come under fire for posting photos of herself breastfeeding her two-month-old son, Lincoln Marshall Marroquin. Lowry has been an outspoken advocate of breastfeeding, and defended her decision to both breastfeed and post the photos online.
"This girl really just said she doesn't like to see anyone breastfeeding in public. Like what? Do you cover your face while eating??" Lowry tweeted in response to comments made by followers.
"@KailLowry what's with all the boob pics?! We get it, you breast feed! Geesh! Have some class woman," @Sun_Sand_Beach posted to Lowry's twitter feed.
Her photos have caused quite a stir among those who believe breastfeeding should be allowed whenever, wherever, and those who believe it should be done in private. Many have rallied to Lowry's support, offering their kudos for her decision to breastfeed without any shame of doing so in public.
"@KailLowry People need to realize breasts were created to feed babies, NOT as sexual objects," @mandakoopa tweeted.
Even Pope Francis has become an advocate for breastfeeding in public, encouraging parishioners to feel comfortable doing so in the Sistine Chapel.
"If they are hungry, mothers, feed them, without thinking twice, because they are the most important people here. Today the choir will sing but the most beautiful choir of all is the choir of the infants who will make a noise. Some will cry because they are not comfortable or because they are hungry," Pope Francis told parents during a baptism ceremony in Vatican City.
"Keep on with it! It needs to be normalized," mylilprincesses posted on TheStir.com, where numerous other mothers have supported Lowry.
