Tekken 7 Arcade Release on February 2015, Console Release Unknown

"Tekken 7" is the next title in Bandai Namco's "Tekken" fighting game franchise, slated for a release on the Playstation 4. An arcade version of the game is scheduled for a February 2015 release on Japan. The Japan release also serves as the location testing where players can test out the game's new mechanics and the arcade netplay system.

The company had first announced the game during the fighting games tournament EVO 2014 earlier this year on July. The game will also be using Unreal Engine 4 and according to game director Katsuhiro Harada, it is supposed to give the developers the chance to focus on "making Tekken 7 the best possible game" instead of creating a new engine.

"Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, but it also allows us to bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire," Harada remarked.

Tekken 7 will also be seeing a new duo of playable characters, one of them will be a Latin American Savate fighter named Catalina, described to be a "sassy mouthed talker" who "will be vocal in-game." A male character named Claudio will also be introduced in Tekken 7.

Not much about the plot has been revealed but Harada had said that the game will serve as the conclusion to the Mishima clan saga and is apparently going to provide answers regarding the feud between Heihachi Mishima, Kazuya Mishima, and Jin Kasama, along with the origins of the Devil Genea and other Tekken mysteries.
