'The Age of Adeline' Release Date Revealed

"The Age of Adaline," also known as "Adaline", is a romance fantasy film that stars Blake Lively, Kathy Baker, Michiel Huisman, Harrison Ford, and Ellen Burstyn. The upcoming film directed by Lee Toland Krieger and written by J. Mills Goodloe and Salvador Paskowitz will hit theaters on April 24, 2015.

"Adaline" is a story of a 29-year old woman from the 1900s who becomes ageless after a near-fatal accident one icy night. "Adaline" keeps her secret and embarks on an epic journey around the world throughout the 20th century. After decades of living and journeying alone, she meets a man whom she values more than her immortality.

Just like the film, the production took a long journey with several changes in the lead stars and director. The title role was initially offered to Katherine Heigl, but the actress withdrew from the production. The same role was offered to Natalie Portman, but the multi-awarded actress did not accept the title role. Prior to Lee Toland Krieger, Lakeshore also considered several directors.

In October 2013, Blake Lively and Emily Burstyn took on the starring roles. Lakeshore CEO Tom Rosenberg has nothing but praises for the actresses saying, "They're extraordinarily talented and perfect for telling the beautiful and timeless tale of The Age of Adeline."

Gary Lucchesi says Krieger, the film's director, "is one of the most stylish young filmmakers working in Hollywood today. He is visually imaginative and possesses a strong narrative sense."

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairs Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman said that, "We searched for the ideal director and stars. We believe that we have found them with Lee Toland Krieger, Blake Lively, and Ellen Burstyn, and together they will tell the story of "Adaline" in a way that audiences won't forget."

After numerous changes in production, "The Age of Adaline" will hit theatres on April 24, 2015.
