'The Bachelor' News: Peter Kraus Explains Why He Turned Down ABC Show

Peter Kraus recently explained why chose not to accept ABC's offer to make him the lead on "The Bachelor" season 22.

Many fans were devastated when Kraus and Rachel Lindsay broke up on the last season of "The Bachelorette." Although they did not end up together, Kraus' charm made him a popular choice to join "The Bachelor's" 22nd season next year. Unfortunately for Kraus' fans, Arie Luyendyk Jr. became the "Bachelor" instead.

In an interview with Us Weekly, the Wisconsin native explained why he turned down ABC's offer to be in the reality dating show. Kraus said the way he and Lindsay ended their romance influenced his decision to not join "The Bachelor."

"There's a lot of fun — some of my closest friends are from the show. But there are cons too," he shared. "I feel like you lose control and I'm definitely a control freak. There'd be a lot I wouldn't have final say on, and that would be hard for me," he explained further.

He also revealed that he is not closing his doors on the idea of being on the famed franchise in the future. "There was never a cold turkey like, 'This is not happening.' I was not ready for this and they agreed," Kraus continued. "If it were to come up again, I would definitely consider it."

During his days in "The Bachelorette," the personal trainer and Lindsay called it quits over Kraus' reluctance to propose. He previously mentioned that he only wanted to get engaged and settle down, but he did not know Lindsay enough to be sure he could marry her.

Series creator Mike Fleiss previously confirmed that Kraus will appear on "The Bachelor Winter Games." In his latest interview, Kraus said the gig has not been offered to him yet, but he would certainly do it if it was.

The new season of "The Bachelor" premieres 2018 on ABC. An exact release date has yet to be announced by the network.
