'The Big Bang Theory' Mrs Wolowitz Dies: Carol Ann Susi Dies from Battle Against Cancer at 62

Carol Ann Susi, the voice behind Mrs. Wolowitz on the popular sitcom "The Big Bang Theory," died Tuesday in Los Angeles, succumbing to cancer. The actress was 62 years old and made numerous guest appearances on television shows since the 1970s.

Warner Bros. Television and series producers Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro, and Bill Prady issued a statement regarding the loss of a beloved character.

"The Big Bang Theory family has lost a beloved member today with the passing of Carol Ann Susi, who hilariously and memorably voiced the role of Mrs. Wolowitz. Unseen by viewers, the Mrs. Wolowitz character became a bit of a mystery throughout the show's eight seasons," the producers said in the statement.

Susi's character, Mrs. Wolowitz, was never seen in person during the series' run time and only offered her voice in the episodes.

"What was not a mystery, however, was Carol Ann's immense talent and comedic timing, which were on display during each unforgettable appearance. In addition to her talent, Carol Ann was a constant source of joy and kindness to all," the statement continued.

"Our thoughts and deepeset condolences are with her family during this time, and we will miss her greatly."
She also appeared in the hit ABC show, "The Night Stalker" as well as making appearances in "Mad About You," "Six Feet Under," "Cheers," "Doogie Howser M.D.," and "Just Shoot Me."
