'The Big Bang Theory' Spoilers: Recap for Episode 'The Troll Manifestation'
On this week's all new episode of "The Big Bang Theory," the girls dig up each other's embarrassing pasts, while Leonard and Sheldon decide to confront an Internet troll and get the surprise of their lives when they find out who it is.
In another fun night at Penny's, the three girls are looking for something to watch when Bernadette and Amy find a copy of Penny's movie—"Serial Apeist 2: Monkey See, Monkey Kill." Penny urges them to pick something else, but the two persist, and they settle down to make fun of Penny. In retaliation, Penny turns to her iPad and digs up dirt on Bernadette, and she discovers a video of Bernadette competing in a beauty pageant back in 1999. In the video, Bernadette is in a puffy pink gown and for the talent portion, she sings the Spice Girls hit "Wannabe."
Then it's Amy's turn to get embarrassed as Bernadette and Penny find some fanfiction written by her. It's revealed that Amy is a fan of the "Little House on the Prairie" books, but instead of Laura being the heroine in her stories, Amy's fanfiction is about a pioneer girl named Amelia and a time traveler/physicist named Cooper. Penny and Bernadette initially laughed at the stories' premise, but soon they were very much engrossed in the stories and later, Penny shares a snippet of the tale with Leonard.
Meanwhile, Leonard comes up with a theory that Sheldon approves of, and the two post it on their quantum diaries physics blog. Soon, the message board fills up with praise, with some calling it insightful and innovative—then one critic slams it and calls Leonard and Sheldon "crackpot wannabe theoreticians" and "two clowns with their heads in a bucket."
The comments from their online bully, General Relativity, spur Sheldon and Leonard to confront him via video chat. They call him up, and their bully turns out to be Stephen Hawking.
The boys are surprised but also sad because Hawking didn't like their work. But he says that he likes their paper and that "the premise is intriguing."
When asked why he was posting such mean comments, Hawking answered, "If you were sitting in a chair for 40 years, you'd get bored too."
"The Big Bang Theory" airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
