'The Conjuring 2' Premiere Date Scheduled for June 10, 2016

New Line Cinema will be releasing "The Conjuring 2" on June 10, 2016. Originally, the sequel to "The Conjuring" was set fr a pre-Halloween premiere on October 23, 2015 but the studio has decided to push back the release to 2016.

James Wan, who directed the first "The Conjuring" film, will return to direct the sequel as Warner Bros. had signed him last month. The first "Conjuring" film was a success hit, grossing over $320 million in the box office on a $20 million budget. The film was premiered last year July 19.

"The Conjuring" was based on Rhode Island 1971 and revolves around the work of real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorrain Warren. In the first film, the couple – played by Partick Wilson and Vera Farmiga investigates a family with five girls which was being terrorized by forces unseen inside a haunted house.

"The Conjuring 2" will feature screenplay by Chad and Carey Hayes and will continue on the real-life adventures of Ed and Lorraine Warren.

Casting has not been announced yet but it is expected that Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will reprise their roles.

It is still unclear which case the Warrens will take in the sequel.

Wan also produced "Annabell," a spin-off film of "The Conjuring" which premiered earlier this year and grossed over $240 million. "Annabell," unlike "The Conjuring" explores the background behind the first "Conjuring" film's creepy, haunted doll.
