The Crew to Be Released December for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Windows PC, Steam Lists Pre-Purchase
"The Crew," an online racing game developed by Ivory Tower and Ubisoft Reflections is scheduled to be released on Dec. 2 worldwide and on Dec. 4 in Japan for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and the Windows PC.
The game is already available for pre-purchase on Steam for the Windows PC. Another closed beta is to be held sometime in November but it has not been announced on which consoles it will be held.
"The Crew" is essentially a massively multiplayer online game where the cars act as the player's avatar. The game is also an open world game set in the U.S. The players can also form crews where they can compete with other crews in eight-player races across the roads of the U.S.
To hype up their game, Ubisoft has released a new video which details the different specs that players can apply to their cars. The five specs are: Street, Performance, Dirt, Raid, and Circuit. These specs can be applied immediately while racing without having to the return to the garage. Also in the video are the different rewards that players can earn at the end of each race.
Ubisoft is hoping to differentiate the game from other racing games like "Need for Speed." The company is looking to merge the social aspect that the consoles offer with the racing genre, thus the game's conception.
The game is said to feature every road and street in the U.S. which would mean that the world is going to be really big. Allegedly, it would take 45 of in-game time to drive from coast to coast.
