The Dream Reveals Feelings About Jay-Z Grammy Comments

Terius "The Dream" Nash is speaking up about being the object of rapper Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter's scrutiny, when his attire for the 2013 Grammys was made into the object of ridicule as the pair accepted an award together on stage.

The Dream, 35-year-old American singer-songwriter and record producer, accepted the award for Best Rap Song/Collaboration with Jay-Z and singer Frank Ocean while donning a hat that said 'Boyz N tha Hood' over what looked to be a "Parental Advisory." While The Dream and Ocean gave heartfelt thanks for their awards, Jay-Z decided to dedicate his acceptance speech to the producer.

"I'd like to thank the swap meet for his hat," Jay-Z said, insinuating that The Dream acquired his outfit from a flea market.

Although the moment broadcast at the 55th Grammy Awards made headlines, The Dream insisted that he was not upset at Jay-Z's verbal jabs. The producer called into Philadelphia radio station Hot 109.7 to speak about his relationship with the rapper and let people know that he was not offended by the public exchange at the high-profile music awards show.

"I don't know if people really know how much time we spend around each other. There's a thing like, 'Oh that's the first time he's around him and that's what Jay feels about him,'" The Dream revealed on the radio show. "We're around each other joking all the time. It's not like he wouldn't say that. He would say that whether the TV is on or not."

While most of the producer's peers arrived to the show in formal attire, The Dream explained his reasoning for appearing in a casual outfit.

"Of course I have suits in my closet that I could have put on. I could have looked like everybody else that was there. I could have did that," The Dream told Hot 109.7. "Actually, we made the best TV moment that's been on the Grammys in a long time. I don't mind taking a joke or a jab. That's cool. I'll get Jay back.[...] All that means is that Jay's in debt and he owes me like, three rap verses."
