'The Flash' Season 4 Episode 2 Spoilers: Showrunner Talks About Lighter Episodes; Gypsy and Vibe to Get Serious

The new season of "The Flash" will have a lighter storyline compared to the previous installments. Meanwhile, Vibe (Carlos Valdes) and Gypsy (Jessica Camacho) will develop more of their relationship in season 4.

The past seasons of "The Flash" have developed a dark and brooding theme, especially for Barry (Grant Gustin). However, showrunner Todd Helbing shared in an interview with TV Guide that season 4 will be very different tonally.

"The first episode is probably the closest tonally to the past three seasons, and even that shifts a little bit. It really kicks off in Episode 2. There's a lot of jokes, there's a lot of fun scenarios. We're really swinging for the fences as far as the fun factor is concerned," Helbing revealed.

In episode 2 of "The Flash" season 4, titled "Mixed Signals," the comedy begins with Barry experiencing technical difficulties with his new suit that Cisco made for him.

As seen on the episode 2 promo, Barry calls for help to his team when his new suit starts malfunctioning while out on a mission.

"Guys, the suit's freaking out!" Barry tells them, as his suit starts to inflate.

But even though the team will have a lot of laughs, Barry still has a lot to deal with in his personal life.

According to the episode listing on The Futon Critic, Barry and Iris (Candice Patton) will be attending couples' therapy to fix their relationship after leaving it hanging for six months when the Scarlet Speedster was trapped in the Speed Force.

Aside from the two lovebirds, Gypsy and Vibe will also get ahead in their relationship.

Helbing revealed that the couple's relationship is "blossoming," and that Cisco will soon meet Gypsy's father.

Fans can catch "The Flash" season 4 every Tuesday night at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
