'The Fosters' Season 5B Rumors: Mariana's Exes to Vie for Her Love?
While the second half of "The Fosters" season 5 is not expected to arrive earlier than next year, it is already believed that the popular Freeform drama will feature Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) getting into a relationship once more.
Given the bad experience she had with her ex-boyfriend, Nick (Louis Hunter), it is totally understandable why Mariana has not had a love life for a while in "The Fosters." However, it has been revealed that the character will open her heart once more and let romance into her life again when "The Fosters" returns for the second half of its season 5.
"Mariana's gone, I think we figured out, 18 episodes without a boyfriend. So sometimes when it rains, it pours. Mariana's going to have her options open this season," said "The Fosters" executive producer Joanna Johnson in an interview with TV Line last month.

While Johnson did not mention who Mariana's new love interest will be, it is suspected that it is no other than the guy she danced with at the prom featured in its season 5 mid-finale: Her ex, Mat (Jordan Rodrigues). However, as Johnson also revealed that Nick will also return in the second half of "The Fosters" season 5, could Mariana actually end up with another ex-boyfriend once more?
"That's the question: Is he manipulating her? Is he just trying to find a way to get her back in his life? And what lessons have Mariana learned about when you have a stalker in life who's baiting you? Do you take the bait or not?" Johnson said in reference to Nick's actions in the concluded first half of season 5.
To recall, the mid-season 5 finale of "The Fosters" featured Mariana receiving a text message from an unknown number, only to find out later on that it was Nick. Apparently, despite having broken up, Nick was not over Mariana as he continued to stalk her even after he was placed under house arrest.
As both Mat and Nick are exes of Mariana, will "The Fosters" season 5B feature a battle of the exes in their bid to win Mariana back?
Fans can only speculate for now.
