'The Jungle Book' News: Scarlett Johansson as Kaa
The most recent featurette of the upcoming live adaptation of "The Jungle Book" debuted Scarlett Johansson's role in the film.
It was revealed that Johansson will be taking on the role of Kaa, a sly snake, in "The Jungle Book." Those who are familiar with the book are aware that the seducing snake will put Mowgli, voiced by Neel Sethi, under a spell. The teaser showed Kaa speaking with Mowglie in the middle of the jungle. She had said, "I know what you are. I know where you came from. Would you like to see?"
Aside from Johansson, the most recently released clip also featured Lupita Nyongo, who will play the role of the mother wolf named Raksha. Bill Murray will also take the role of Maloo while Ben Kingsley plays Bagheera. King Louie will be played by Christopher Walken.
As for the villain, Idris Elba is expected to voice Shere Khan, who will have the goal of getting Mowgli in order to keep him from living in the jungle. The trailer showed Khan realizing that there was a human in the jungle. This poses as a problem since it was established that man is not allowed in the jungle. In an attempt to capture Mowgli, Khan ends up losing him. With that, Mowgli sets off in his own adventure throughout the jungle. It was stated that the movie will show Mowgli's journey to find himself.
The filming of "The Jungle Book" took place in India. Sethi recently spoke about his experience in working on the film. He said during an interview, "I have been in India six to seven times as my grandparents live here. I love India because this is my home. It's damn cool and different shooting for this film, I have never done something like this before."
"The Jungle Book" is expected to hit theaters this April 15.
