Players can encounter a Lynel while helping out the Zora Prince, but they can opt to sneak around this particular one just by getting the shock arrows and moving on.

However, players cannot just sneak past a Lynel each time. One way or another, gamers are bound to face one, and it's no easy task winning over them as Lynels are considered one of the toughest foes in the "Breath of the Wild." Moreover, defeating a Lynel will give players high-quality weapons that are needed in the course of the game, so sneaking past one is certainly a possible loss for any player.

To know how to defeat a Lynel, it is important to know the different types of this beast. These types act like a sort of rank which also coincides with their strength levels.

First up is the low-rank Lynel.  The Blue-Maned one is second, then the White-Maned Lynel, and lastly, the Silver Lynel.

It is recommended to practice one's fighting skills with a low-rank Lynel so players can master their timing when it comes to shielding themselves from the monster's advances and attacking them on the right parts. Players can do this by manually saving a part of the game with the low-rank Lynel and using this as a practice arena.

Players are advised to hit a Lynel's face with an arrow to be able to stun it. This can be done by utilizing close-up shots whenever it is preparing for a fire-explosion attack. Once a Lynel is successfully stunned, players can follow it up with more lethal attacks to weaken it.

Defeating low-rank, Blue-Maned and White-Maned Lynels can give players a Lynel Horn, Lynel Hoof and Lynel Guts, but defeating the Silver Lynel gives players all that plus an Amber, Opal, Topaz, Ruby, Sapphire and Diamond.

Players who need to collect such weapons can find many Lynels to be defeated around the Hyrule Castle.
