The Piano Guys Play 'We Three Kings' Like You've Never Heard – on a Skating Rink (VIDEO)
Just when you thought Christmas music was behind you, here are The Piano Guys with a unique performance of "We Three Kings," filmed last year on the skating rink at NYC's Bryant Park.
And why not, since today the Christian church observes the feast day of Epiphany to celebrate the revelation of the birth of Jesus Christ. The occasion, also known as Theophany or Three Kings Day, is represented in the story of the Three Wise Men in Matthew 2:1–12.
The Piano Guys' eclectic rendition of the Christmas carol is unlike any you've heard, and that's intentional. They explain in the video description:
"We mixed in just about every genre of music we could until the song had a stylistic "identity crisis." =) We wanted to musically symbolize the energy and anticipation of the Three Wise Men and at the same time personify the mysterious origins of the story. We hope there's something for everyone in this arrangement -- jazz, funk, blues, rock, classical...and you'll also hear some ethnic Middle Eastern/Asian flairs here and there."
