'The Voice' News: The Top 20 Were Named; Live Playoffs to Start Next Week
The Knockout round is finally over on "The Voice," and the top 20 contestants are finally complete. The Live Playoffs will finally start next week, where more singers are going to be sent home.
Monday night's episode brought an end to the third round of the hit reality singing competition. However, the rest of the episode was predictable, with most fan-favorites coasting through the round, and making it through the live shows.
The night started with Team Adam's Shelby Brown and James Dupre. Shelby chose to sing "Jesus Take the Wheel" by Carrie Underwood, while James sang one of the coach's, Blake Shelton, song "Sure Be Cool If You Did." Brown won over Dupre, since the teenager hit the notes of the song beautifully.
Pharrell put up his two singers, who he said "naturally gravitate toward classic songs." It was Siahna Im against Mark Hood, and the latter won over the teenager, with his performance of "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King. Siahna sang Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black," which the Los Angeles Times described as "a little more than she could chew."
Next was Team Gwen, and the coach chose Jeffery Austin and Kota Wade. Gwen chose Jeffery, who sang "Turning Tables" by Adele. The Hollywood Reporter described the singer's voice "distinct," which "makes him a versatile artist."
Emily Ann Roberts and Nadjah Nicole took the stage for Team Blake, and according to Blake, he chose the two since they have "unique, delicate voices." Nadjah performed Alicia Keys' "A Woman's Worth," but failed to win over Emily's take on "Cowboy Take Me Away" by the Dixie Chicks. Blake praised Emily for her winning performance, and even joked that the teenager will make him "rich."
The next winners were called and they are Zach Seabaugh from Team Blake, and Evan McKeel from Team Pharrell.
The last performance for the night and the Knockout round was from Regina Love and Riley Biederer from Gwen's team. Regina earned a standing ovation from the coaches after her performance of "Midnight Train to Georgia" by Gladys Knight and the Pips, while Riley also proved that she deserves a spot at the Live Playoffs with her performance of Beyonce's "XO." Gwen was torn, but ultimately chose Regina. However, Riley did not go home again, because Pharrell used his last steal on her.
Last night, viewers saw a recap of the show's best moment before the Live Playoffs. It also featured the contestants' journey throughout the competition, from the Blind Audition to the Knockout round, as well as some unseen footage.
