'The Walking Dead' Season 7 News, Updates, Spoilers: Did Negan Kill Glenn and Maggie? Cast and Plot Details

Will the favorite couple survive The Walking Dead's next season?

The Walking Dead fans are still scouring the internet for clues as to who Negan killed in the Season 6 finale with his trusty bat, Lucille. But if the hunt for answers may be agonizing, the answer to their question may be even more torturous, as spoilers are pointing out to not one, but two deaths in the series.

The internet is inclined to choose Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) as Negan's unfortunate victim. But if you're up on your toes, you'd know that the most likely candidate is Glenn Rhee, as the landmark 100th issue of The Walking Dead source comics have already foretold. Even more foretelling was Steven Yeun, the guy who plays Glenn in the series, only filmed one episode for the season.

Since the cliffhanger finale, several "Walking Dead" cast had talked about how this particular death would impact the rest of the characters in the show. Showrunner Scott Gimple said the axed character is a dearly beloved one, and would be the pivotal jumpstart to a much-changed Season 7.

Not one, but two?

But it looks like the die has been cast for his onscreen lover Maggie (played by Lauren Cohan) as well. In an interview with EW, director Greg Nicotero talked about how the show went to extreme lengths to keep the identity of the latest death a secret, and in the process, accidentally drew attention to a revealing Freudian slip: "If we would have shown the deaths, then they wouldn't have felt the characters in Season 7 the way they need to."

Deaths, as in plural. If Walking Dead has indeed decided to kill off the hugely-pregnant Maggie, then this would be a shocking, disturbing twist that no one, not even from a zombie action thriller, would dare expect.

But because it's a zombie action thriller, it makes sense to do so. Maggie has lost everyone she loves, with the exception of Glenn and her baby. If the little family were to die, then that will surely keep the show on everyone's minds. If Maggie dies, so to does her unborn child, and that fits right into the hopelessness that the showrunners want to establish for its seventh season.

Further fanning the flames is a quick look at both Lauren Cohan and Steven Yeun's social media accounts, with very little to no references to Walking Dead in sight. This could be nothing, or something, because as fans of TV series have come to learn, nothing is ever just a coincidence anymore.

We'll soon find out as soon as The Walking Dead returns on the small screen this year.
