'The Walking Dead' Spoilers: Rick Grimes is Not Safe; No One is
"No one is safe," this is what Robert Kirkman, creator of "The Walking Dead," announced prior to the premiere of the zombie post-apocalyptic thriller. Not even Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) is safe.
Grimes, one of the original characters of the show, has led community after community in their plight to survive in a world filled with flesh-eating zombies and power-hungry humans like Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the Saviors. But even he is not guaranteed to survive. And his death might come sooner than everyone expects.
Speaking at the 2017 New York Comic-Con, Kirkman told attendees, "No-one is safe. Hopefully there have been points where you go, 'Is this it? Is this where Rick dies?' And he doesn't."
He continued, "One day, the moment will come where you go, 'Oh my God, it is!'"
If the TV adaptation sticks to the comic books, then Grimes should have a few more seasons.
Just to be clear, Kirkman told audiences that Grimes' death might happen in the near future. He said it could happen now or 50 years into the future.
Should Rick survive the season, which is said to be the most intense one yet, then other major characters might be killed off. If fans were overwhelmed by the deaths of Glenn (Steven Yeun), Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), and Sasha (Sonequa Martin) last season, then the upcoming installment should be unbearable.
At the same event, "The Walking Dead" creator told ABC News that their goal for season 8 was to make its preceding one smaller in comparison. If they wanted to top that, then fans should expect to see a lot of deaths in this all-out war between the Saviors and the communities they have bullied.
"The Walking Dead" season 8 premieres Sunday, Oct. 22 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
