Theo James New Movies 2015 News: James Turns Down 'Underworld' Role
Following the success of "Divergent" and "Insurgent," Theo James was highly expected to launch a series of "Underworld" films. However, according to latest updates, the "Insurgent" star turned down offers for the vampire films due to scheduling conflicts with the two remaining "Allegiant" movies.
It was in September last year that Hollywood Reporter made the announcement that James would have a bigger role in the "Underworld" film.
"James, who played a vampire named David in 2013' 'Underworld: Awakening,' will be the central character of the new film, which is not a reboot but rather an expansion of the existing universe," they reported.
James in a recent interview with Digital Spy, said that he will not be returning for the upcoming Underworld film. however.
"No, they have something in the works, but my involvement in it is … I think it's going to be very difficult to do that with these [Divergent] movies, and my other commitments," he said.
James' Divergent co-star Shailene Woodley, on the other hand, is busy filming other films aside from the "Allegiant" film series. The "Fault in Our Stars" actress was on location with her "Snowden" co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Todd Lieberman, "Snowden" producer, told in an interview with Fashion & Style that Woodley's new movie will have cool special effects.
"I don't want to promise too much, but I can say that the things that we've talked about have been very cool ...There's going to be some really mind-blowing visuals," he explained.
Woodley also starred in a coming-of-age indie film, "White Bird in a Blizzard," where the actress received praises for her performance.
The actress also received her Trailblazer Award at the 2015 MTV Movie Awards where she gave a moving inspirational speech that encourages everyone to become a trailblazer – an innovator, a forger of a new path.
James and Woodley recently starred alongside each other at "Insurgent," the second installment of the "Allegiant" franchise.
