'Thor: Ragnarok' Premiere, News: Matt Damon to Make Cameo Appearance? Director Says Hela Is Marvel's Best Villain
Matt Damon could appear in a cameo in "Thor: Ragnarok." Meanwhile, Cate Blanchett's Hela is being claimed as the best villain of Marvel so far.
There are speculations that Damon could appear in "Thor: Ragnarok" to play in a flashback involving Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in Asgard.
The Weekly Planet podcast suspects that Damon will play Loki in a flashback from the first "Thor" movie. However, there is no confirmation yet if Damon has signed with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
One indicator that could support that Damon will portray Loki in a flashback is if another actor will be tapped to play Thor opposite his brother, who is speculated to be John Cena.
Cosmic Book News confirmed that Cena was added as a cast member on the IMDb page of "Thor: Ragnarok" in November last year. However, his name has already been removed.
Meanwhile, director Taika Waititi believes that Blanchett as Hela is the best villain that Marvel has had so far.
According to the director, not only is Blanchett the first female villain for Marvel, she's also the "most interesting" because of her ability to portray the role.
"She's multidimensional. She's layered. She's troubled. She's really funny. And you know, it's not just like '[evil laugh] Now if I can finally get the thing, then this will happen!' There's a little bit of that, but there's so many other things going on for her," said Waititi.
He also adds that Hela's look portrays one powerful villain and that she'll be the worst that Thor will ever have to face.
"She is Hela, and she wears the cowl, and she has the antlers, and she looks amazing in the concept art and stuff. Thor in the films has never fought anyone tougher than this lady," explained the director.
"Thor: Ragnarok" is slated to premiere on Oct. 25.
