Three Sony Xperia X Smartphones Announced; Includes Xperia X, Xperia XA & Xperia X Performance

Sony has showed off a lot of its brand new devices during the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona, Spain, including a variety of mid-to-high range phones. According to a report by Gizmodo, the company announced three new smartphones under the Xperia X series. It consists of a midrange Xperia X, an affordable Xperia XA and a speed-boosted Xperia X Performance which is the flagship device.

PCMag Asia detailed that the three devices appear to be standard smartphone offerings from the Japanese brand but what makes them unique is that they have been created with a greater emphasis on camera and battery performance.

The Xperia X and X Performance are similar when it comes to its design and hardware. Both models come with a slim, light-weight build. They are also designed with a metal back and rounded frame. Their bezels are also slender and their glass display is slightly curved.

As for the hardware, the Xperia X is equipped with a Snapdragon 650 processor paired with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The X Performance also has the same hardware but it runs with Qualcomm's latest processor offering, the Snapdragon 820. Both devices' storage can be further expanded via microSD card slot.

The two also carry the same camera specs with the rear featuring a 23-megapixel camera and the front with a 13-megapixel camera. And because of Sony's predictive hybrid technology, the camera of the smartphones focuses faster and more accurately. Both also run with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

As for the battery life, the X Performance carries a 2,700mAh battery while the Xperia X has a 2,620mAh battery.

Meanwhile, the affordable Xperia XA is packed with a MediaTek MT6755 processor with 2GB of RAM. The device has an internal storage space of 16 GB with microSD card slot and a 5-inch display. The battery is 2300mAh while the imaging features are a 13-megapixels rear camera and an 8-megapixels front camera.

There is no price or date of availability yet but the three devices are expected to come around summer time.
