Tim Tebow News: 'The Kid' Praises Outfielder; Tebow Delivers Speech at His Alma Mater

Ken Griffey Jr. gave praise to Tim Tebow. Meanwhile, Tebow spoke at his Alma Mater for a fundraising event.

Baseball Hall of Famer, Griffey, also known as "The Kid" or "Junior," spoke highly of Tebow during "The Big 3 Rollup" last Wednesday.

Griffey began the conversation about the New York Mets player by saying that having a team consisted of multiple Tebows is better than a bunch of highly skilled players who don't know how to play with teamwork.

Griffey described Tebow as a winner, no matter what level he's in. "He might not be the greatest at one thing, but he's a proven winner and you just don't find those guys on trees," Griffey explained.

"The Kid" also defended Tebow by saying that he deserves a chance to be good in the field as baseball as much as anybody else.

"What has that man done to not deserve an opportunity to be successful on anything? ... He hasn't done a thing but go out there," said Griffey. He also points out that it seems like everyone has something to say about Tebow's reputation.

"When you hear his name, it's like a lightning rod. Everybody's got an opinion," Griffey said. However, Griffey said that if Tebow has enough to make it big in baseball, then he will give his full respect to him.

Meanwhile, Tebow spoke at his Alma Mater — the University of Florida — for a fundraiser with a crowd of about 2,000 people at the Clemente Center on the Florida Institute of Technology, TC Palm reports.

To the crowd's big surprise, Tebow didn't talk about his football or his baseball career. He talked about "what's most important," which is "people."

Tebow shared with the big crowd a verse his parents made him and his siblings memorize before going into a game, which is his foundation for the perfect team play.

"When you're on a team, you fight for a common goal," Tebow said.
